another combat question: how does the knight errants base ability „sally forth“ work? If you play cards from your hand for every action, does he draw an extra card? How would you attack with an extra combat action?

Yeah, they draw an extra card! Which means you could attack with that extra card or just use it for movement or something else

awesome, thanks!

Really great rules and use of Tarot, The Lone Legend team. I really like the combat mechanics and setting generation tools!

Thanks!

Love the ruleset. There's more here than I originally thought.

I tried to pack in as much as I could! Thanks!

This is such an incredible game. Reading through the character creation rules for the first time made me giddy with excitement.
Can't say I've been able to play it in a group yet, but I absolutely love it!

Thank you! I love your game Lil Adventurers!

Really creative systems here, and the character creation makes deep, detailed characters with informed backstories which are perfect for solo play

thank you!

any chance of getting more community copies? I know $15 isn't a lot, but thats hard for me to swing right now

more will be added on the first of every month!

Sick! Thanks

Love the art on the preview pages, are you the author of these as well? Just curious. Obviously the game also looks very interesting to me, seems like it should work solo.

(+2)

Thank you! I designed the layout and did about half of the art myself! The other half is public domain art from old book illustrations. It does work solo!

(+3)

Would love to try this out. Is it possible to get a community copy?

(+2)

Hi there. I run a ttrpg club for my students at my school. I was wondering if you ever add community copies?

Thank you!

of course!

How are Tarot cards used here? Most often what games do when using Tarot cards is to use them as a randomizer (for example His Majesty). Is that what is done here? Or has more been done to engage with the symbolism and meaning of the cards themselves?

(+5)

It’s both here: they’re used as a randomizer, but where I could, I incorporated symbolism seamlessly. For example in the Lifepath system, each minor arcana card adds years to your life (number randomizer) and a major event that relates to that card’s classical symbolic meaning. The Magick system and Oracles also incorporated card meanings. Players and Referees are also encouraged to use the card meanings for more inspiration or context during play!

I like some of the ideas here although I have a question: so for Combat Actions do Great Successes count if you get a 14 and your suit matches the action? So if you get a 14 of Swords that will automatically be a Great Success assuming you hit?

(+1)

Thanks for checking it out. Good question—yes, you get a great success if you succeed with a swords card on an attack. Great Successes happen when the suit of your card matches the suit of the Test, and attacks are swords Tests. You don’t necessarily need a 14 though, because the target number = enemy’s initiative.

As an avid solo player I appreciate the inclusion of solo rules and tables, but for the life of me I couldnt imagine how the combat system would play out solo. Would you draw randomly for the "referee" for each action, or still draw cards at the beginning and just play a card game against yourself?

Yeah I didnt include solo combat guidelines. But I like to do it like this:

Play your initiative card, then draw randomly for each enemy’s initiative and reveal them.

Create a little deck of 3 cards x the number of enemies facedown. When an enemy attempts an action, draw from this pile.

Edit: and of course the Oracles can help you determine what actions the enemies take if you want to leave it up to chance

I plan on mostly playing this solo, so thank you for the combat guide/hint here.

of course. Have fun!
