Awesome game. Thanks.

This game is great! In my club indie ttrpg will play the game, and Year Quiet. I am very exciting for playing with my group 💖

thank you! Sounds good to me!

Been having a lot of fun with this game. Weirdly addictive. It's gotten me to start carrying dice around in my backpack again so I can squeeze in a few weeks when I'm not busy. I hope we get to see an update expanding on and clarifying some mechanics. Still on my first Thorpe, called Ottenhyll, up to 17 villagers with the Doctor and the Huntress! I've gotten pretty lucky. Almost lost everything to a dragon attack! Keep up the good work.

It was so much fun! I started with just 1 house and 1 villager and from that point onwards IT WAS PURE HELL! Blood moon, Bandits, Assasins, Giant AND A DRAGON! My man had no chance!

Absolute gold! Will play again, will recommen.

P.S: Poor guy:(

Ooof he’s a trooper! Thanks for sharing!

I love your game, it reminds me when I played Age of Empires as a kid.

In my first attempt I lost all but two villagers to famine. The tavern allowed me to continue and focus on gaining wood. I managed to collect enough resources and not getting killed to hire a Leader... And the wolves ate all my food haha.

Perhaps my only question (which I guess I know the answer but I want to confirm) is if the Leaders, the Knight and the prisoners in Jail consume Food as the villagers?

Thank you! No, only the npcs called villagers eat food

I loved this game! It was my first time playing a strategy solo rpg like this and it was incredible. Great job. My town survived til the end!
(I did everything in pen, that's why I had to cross out a lot of numbers lol)

Thanks, that's really cool!

Fun one-page game. Easy to play a couple turns when a few minutes present themselves.

Fun little one pager. Makes a great little history builder for a rpg community as well!

Great little game, and highly recommend, First saw it on Lone Adventurer YT channel.

Have a playthrough of Part 1 for this game. An interesting time so far 😁

thank you so much for sharing!

Couple thoughts on first read- maybe do 2d3 villagers at start instead of 1d6.

When I'm assigning X villagers to a task and roll xd6, do I get all results? The best?

Are the Ongoing events all the 2X events in the middle?

This is very compelling I love the layout. 'Return to the old ways' puts a nice dark spin on things. It's great!

(+1)

Thanks! You get all the results of the Xd6 rolls. Yeah the ongoing encounters are the 20s events

Had a lot of fun playing this! Here are my questions/feedback;

Questions:

- When a giant attacks, do I choose the building that is destroyed? Are houses an option?

- "If you would lose Coin but have none, you may instead reduce any chosen resource(s) by the difference." Does this apply to the other resources as well? If not, what happens?

- if an Assassin comes before I have any Leaders, do they do nothing?

- when I assign villagers to tasks, am I intended to assign them all before seeing the results of my rolls? Or can I assign and roll each villager individually?

Other thoughts:

- I would add a note about potentially choosing an emergency measure in the "Task Phase" part of the procedure breakdown.

- There is conflicting/ambigous info on when buildings trigger. It says to trigger tavern/inn at the start of the week in the "Buildings" section, but references them again in the "Upkeep" section, implying they're at the end of the week. Seems like Upkeep should maybe be Phase 1.

- Iron should be reserved for Forges only, in order to justify building one. I built up lots of Iron I couldn't really use in the early game, and then it felt trivial later.

- Doctor seems a bit OP; they're a must-recruit early on. I would consider adjusting to a d6 roll for Villagers healed, forcing players to consider how many risky activities to partake in when they're backed up with injured/sick. Conversely, the priest and jailer seem pretty weak.

Overall I think the bones of this are fantastic and hope you make supplemental content or an expanded edition of the game.

thanks for the valuable feedback. I plan on making an expanded version that addresses these issues and adds a ton more to the game.

Interesting premise, this is my first strategy-based solo rpg, you could say. I'm usually more into journalling solo rpgs. Although after one in-game week I realized this might not be for me. The yield mechanic for chopping and hunting is unintuitive, because if I have 11 villagers go hunt then I have to interpret each dice result to the corresponding table to get my yield. I feel like that's a lot of work for me. Maybe it'll be more straightforward if dice result = yield but every dice with 1 equals to one villager death, or every dice with 6 you substract 2 from the total. I'm sure there's  better wording for it, but that's just an example.

Also, is there no mechanic to heal injured villagers or I'm not reading it correctly? One more thing is that the end goal is not too narratively satisfactory, but that's coming from someone who's more into journalling rpgs, so...

Anyway, that's all from me! I think it has potential to improve and become more exciting.

Thanks for sharing! The doctor leader heals villagers, and so does the Healer event.

First solo page rpg played and it was awesome, although totally brutal. The first game used my solo rpg cards to act as dice and second game used dice roller on my phone. Maybe third time use actual dice. We will see if my luck improves.

Very fun game - Northhyll nows lays abandoned with 4 houses and 1 mine after 2 red moons within a few weeks. First play through and this game have already given me inspiration for some side quests for other ttrpgs. As other have said it is a great standalone game and the outcome can be used as lore or side content for other things - like why was the 2 encounters of Assassins and Red Moon after each other? Does a cult live near Northhyll and what happened to the 12 villagers that were lost under the Red Moon?

First solo rpg game and I love it! I’ve been looking for a game to play for months and nothing was really intriguing me, then I saw Thorpe on Reddit and figured I’d give it a try. Loved it so much that I have three games running at once lol. Thanks for creating this game!

Thanks for sharing, I’m so glad! Welcome to this amazing hobby! If you’ll indulge me I have a few recommendations:

Do you have any tips for coin gain? I feel like trying to obtain coins is absolutely brutal in the beginning to mid game.

Building a Market lets you gain 1d6 of any resource (coin included) each week. And if you have an Inn you also passively gain coin!

Grabbed a community copy and shared it with a friend, we both had a great time playing. Thanks!

thanks for sharing! I'm glad you both liked it!

This game's presentation alone is beautiful. I really love how you in the cover piece, you use the blue, white and red colors and that carries over into the main game itself throughout. Furthermore, how the village contrasts the white and blue to let your eyes focus until you turn over the page to see the rules.

I can see myself using this game for my dnd games when I am building a village that needs a bit of history to it.

Please clarify the start with dies d3  houses etc, roll d36

(+1)

I presume roll d3 would be roll d6 and divide numbers accordingly 1&2 = 1 etc

Yep, you’re correct. d3 is a d6÷2, or you could say that on a d6, 1&2=1, 2&4=2, and 5&6=3.

d36 is rolling a d3 as the tens digit and a d6 as the ones digit, giving 18 equally-likely options

Sorry this one is throwing me through a loop 🤣 please let me know if I'm understanding this correctly.

D3 equals rolling 1d6: 1–2=1, 3–4=2, 5–6=3

Then we roll 1d6 to determine the second #/tens

Total starting houses = result of D3 + result of 1d6 for tens

You're understanding the d3 right. the "d36" is only used for the encounters. You start with d3 houses, so 1,2, or 3 houses. It is a little confusing I know haha

Thank you! This is an awesome game in a small package, I love it. As for recruiting leaders once we recruit them they stay in our village and we benefit from them continuously? Or is it more like rotating/have to pay them again if wanting their leader ability to take effect for that given week?

(+1)

Playing it now - it's got a bit of an Age of Empires feel to it, which I'm enjoying! No Pestilence so far, fingers crossed.

One question on the Market. It says "Gain 1d6 of any Resource each week." Is that in exchange for the same number of Coin, or free?

(+1)

(FYI, the text on the B&W version for "Requires Mine" and "Requires Smithy" are either missing or invisible.)

(1 edit) (+1)

thanks for catching that. The market gives you resources for free! *edit: fixed the print-friendly version!

(+1)

I was about to comment the same thing, regarding the Age of Empires feel. Can't wait to try it soon!

Community copy obtained and am super impressed. Thank you and love it!
